This site will get things wrong. The measure of a local news outlet is not whether it makes mistakes — it is what happens next.
The policy
- We correct in the open. A corrected article keeps its URL and carries a dated note explaining what was wrong and what it now says. We do not silently edit a published page.
- Every correction is logged here. The log below is permanent and is never pruned, however old or however embarrassing the entry.
- Vote records get their own treatment. Council votes are published first from the meeting as reported, then confirmed against the approved minutes weeks later. If the two differ, the page shows both and says which is which. It does not overwrite the earlier version.
- Speed of correction matches the reach of the error. Anything that went out in the newsletter is corrected in the next newsletter, not only on the website.
- We do not need you to be polite about it. A correction request is not a complaint to be managed. Send it and we will check it.
How to request a correction
Email [email protected] with the page or issue, what is wrong, and — if you have it — the document that shows the correct version. You will get a reply either way, including when we conclude the original was right.
