Independence
- Sponsors do not see coverage before publication, cannot review it, and cannot request changes to it.
- Sponsorship does not buy coverage, and canceling does not prevent it. A sponsor that becomes the subject of a story gets covered the same way anyone else would, and their sponsorship is disclosed in that story.
- Sponsored content is labeled as sponsored, in the newsletter and on the site, in a way you cannot miss.
- No endorsements. This site does not endorse candidates or ballot measures, and does not accept political advertising.
Directory listings
Every business in Eagle Mountain gets a free listing, permanently. Paid placement can affect how prominently a business appears in the directory. It cannot affect whether the business is listed, and it never affects news coverage. Featured listings are marked as such.
Disclosure
Where the publisher has a personal, financial or family connection to the subject of a story, that connection is stated in the story itself — not on a policy page nobody reads. The same applies to relationships with city officials, board members and local business owners.

Gifts and access
No gifts, meals or travel from anyone this site covers. Ordinary press access — attending a meeting, requesting a public record, being added to a city mailing list — is not a gift and is used freely.
Public records
This site is built primarily on records that are already public. Where a record has to be requested, the request and its outcome are described in the resulting story, including when a request is denied.
