Eagle Mountain has been working toward a major bond proposal to fund upgrades to the city's water and sewer infrastructure. Tonight is the formal public hearing — the milestone the city has been building toward.

• Bond amount: up to $220 million

• Purpose: water and sewer system upgrades

• Tonight: special City Council session, City Hall (1650 E Stagecoach Run), 5:30 PM

City Approves Natural Gas Plant for Meta CampusCopy a link to this section#

At its March 3 meeting, the City Council approved a natural gas power facility to be built on Meta's data center campus on Eagle Mountain's west side. The facility is a backup power project for Meta’s expanding operations, developed by an independent power producer called Williams.

The main thing for nearby residents to know: the city approved a noise exception allowing the facility to operate at up to 75 decibels at night — 10 dB above the standard 65 dB limit. To put that in perspective, 65 dB is roughly a normal conversation; 75 dB is closer to a vacuum cleaner or a busy restaurant.

Lawsuit Filed Over Eagle Mountain Rodeo GroundsCopy a link to this section#

A lawsuit was filed this week in Utah's Fourth District Court by Walden Empire, seeking to reclaim the land that currently houses Eagle Mountain's rodeo grounds. The suit challenges how the city has used property originally deeded to it in 2002.

A few rec programs to check out. Here's where things stand:

• Snapology STEM Club: Space (ages 6–12) — $98.
  Sessions run March 12 through April 23.
  Thursdays 4:30–5:45 PM at the Eagle Mountain Senior Center.
  Registration closes March 12.

• Eagle Mountain Rec Sports (ages 3–15+) — $85 (Late registration price).
  Registration closes on March 7th at 10:00PM.
  Spring sports include volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer, and baseball.

• Track and Field (ages 7–14) — $65.
  Registration open through April 2.
  The club first meets on April 15.

• Street Hockey Clinics (3rd–8th grade) — $30.
  Registration closes May 1.
  Two separate clinic sign-ups: May and June
  Each kid gets a shirt, hockey stick, ball, and two tickets to a Mammoth game (say what?! For only $30?)

• Adult Pickleball Leagues — $50.

Cedar Valley High School Athletic Director Sharon Mardesich helped organize Utah Women's Day in Sports last week, a statewide event that brought leadership and empowerment programming to more than 400 female student-athletes. A nice moment for Eagle Mountain to be represented at that level. Full story here.

Eagle Mountain launched its first-ever Eagle Mountain Academy this week, a free six-week course that takes residents inside city operations, from public safety to infrastructure to economic development. Classes run Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 PM through April at various locations throughout the city. The first session was yesterday.
